Wow, so glad I found your blog! I can't wait to see your upcoming posts on salmon and seafood. I am an avid wild salmon eater and have the worst luck at cooking it properly. I would love to see some basic cooking instructions for salmon or halibut. Thanks for your time!

Where are the salmon recipes? I want to find recipes that are simple to cook.

Hi, First of all thank you for asking. I would like for you to check out a very interesting site that has some awesome recipes. One thing though please let me know what you think of this site, I love to have feedback. Go to www.kasilofseafoods.com and click on the recipes. I don't have much time to cook and find a lot of these to be quick and easy. The Salmon Lady

Hi Kimers: Welcome to my blog! This is so much fun helping people. You know the one problem most people have with cooking salmon and halibut is they overcook it. If you cook it a little to long or of course you don't cook it enough you can sure ruin it in a hurry. I am a little short on time tonight, but will get back to you and help you out, I promise. Until then hope all is well with you, take care.

Hi to everyone:

Okay, I would like to ask everyone out there give me some ideas of what you would like to see for seafood recipes. For instance do you want ideas for what to serve with your seafood, such as dishes, wine or ?? Do you want appetizers? Have to tell you I made the Halibut AuGratin yesterday. I thought it was delicious. For the potatoes I made red potatoes and left the skins on, adds more color, besides I think it is a waste to throw the peelings away! I am on Weight Watchers and found this recipe very filling. Hope everyone is okay out there, we are having lots of rain and ice today, is terrible driving. Bye for now.

Hi Salmon Lady:
I like to take skinless salmon chunks and just saute them in butter with onions and garlic with a little white wine and lemon juice.

Hey, Salmon Lady. Tried the halibut augratin dish and was a hit with the whole family. There are 5 of us and a couple picky eaters so this made my day. Keep up with the great recipes.

Good Morning everyone! I have posted a new recipe today called Teriyaki Grilled King. I will be trying this weekend so will give you the results! I am trying real hard to answer all questions every other day, so bare with me. As for recipes I would do one every day just wondering if I will overwhelm you, what do you thing?

Salmon Lady said...

I see we have a question on how to blacken salmon! One of the most important articles to have is the heavy CAST IRON skillet. You need to have the skillet very hot and them ole teflon ones just don't do the job. This process will smoke a lot so have the fan on high. Skin the salmon, brush both sides with butter and sprinkle on the Cajun seasoning on both sides. You will then cook the salmon on each side until the spices are black. I don't care for it very hot in taste so I just sprinkle it on lightly. Sprinkle more if you like it HOT! Enjoy.

Salmon Lady I have a question for you. I like broiled halibut, but get tired of it being plain. Do you have any ideas on marinating or can you even marinate halibut?

Another good site for salmon recipes is vitalchoice.com They sell the very best wild salmon, halibut, tuna, sardines. You can get fresh frozen or canned salmon and tuna. They also post recipes weekly.

Good Morning Bronxmama:
Yes, you definitely can marinate halibut. For instance the link I am recommending there is a recipe called Spicy Chili-Lime Marinade for Halibut. Go to Ed's Kasilof Seafoods and hope you enjoy the recipe.

Are you really in Alaska??

Many of the other Alaska online companies are in Warshington offices!!!

Salmon Lady said...

Good Morning Anonymous: Yes I am in Alaska, in fact it was 14 above this am. I have had the experience of ordering online and thought I was ordering from here and found out it was in the lower 48's. It did not make me happy and NO I did not order from them!

Salmon Lady said...

Hi anonymous:
I can not recommend Vitalchoice because I have found out in my research that they are not here in Alaska. They do not produce their own product and besides we do not have tuna in our Alaskan waters. I can only recommend sites that are in Alaska. Thank you for visiting my blog.

Good Afternoon:
It is about 32 above this afternoon. The sunsets have been awesome. I drove into Soldotna last night and there were a lot of moose out and about. Sure keeps you on alert, they sure can mess up your vehicle. I have twin moose yearlings that hang around my place, they sure are fun to watch grow up. They were only a couple of weeks old last year and their mom was killed on the highway and they have just stayed right in the area. It has been fun watching them grow up. Well I had better sign off, you all take care and if you are in the lower 48's reading this please come up and see us. It is an awesome state.

Good Morning!

I've been a customer of Ed's for a number of years, having my Kenai River fish processed, including smoking and freezing. Just found your site and wanted you to know how impressed I am with it. Some great looking recipes that we are going to try. Hope to see you again this summer.

Hi everyone!
Yes I am still alive. I will be back this coming week. Here it is 59 degrees today, no snow. I was on the Washington coast for a couple of days and oh the spring flowers are in bloom. Even the wild cherry trees were all pink. Was a beautiful trip. I went over on Stevens Pass and it snowed on me coming and going but only briefly.
On the coast I got to experience driving on the ole freeways again, upto 4-5 lanes and going 70mph. Boy it tests your ole driving skills.
Went upto Tulalip Casino and played a little, a very pretty place. Did a lot of shopping in the outlet stores and malls. Our shopping is a little limited in our community so is quite a treat to go to the big city. My plans were changed a little so didn't go to Las Vegas this time.

How's the weather in Vermont? We had another blizzard yesterday, so it is still very white here. Hope to see you in a few months.
